As a country of immense land size, the Australian transport industry is vital to the country’s economy. However due to some tough economic times and decline of the mining industry in Australia, the transport sector has seen a tough year. However in the midst of this plight Drake Trailers has still been able to show innovation and diversification in this tough market.
At Drake Trailers, we are known as innovators in the field of heavy haulage and low loaders, focusing on strength and robust engineering which offers long-term efficiency, safety and rock-solid reliability. Dedicated to ongoing innovation using quality Australian materials and cutting-edge engineering to make the best trailers, we joined forces with O’Phee Trailers this year– one of Australia’s leading manufacturers of innovative semi trailers.
As we have always been known as innovators in the heavy haulage and low loader field, the year 2015 so no chance of us slowing down, with the release of several new trailers. Including the Full Widener Rear Steer, the Low Boy drop deck and the new Tilt Slide.
In September due to popular demand we re-released the Drake Forklift Trailer. It’s a 2×2 Configuration with Hydraulic suspension and accumulators for a smoother ride. Capable of approx. 15t payload when coupled to a single drive prime mover and with 1800mm of load space between the guards, it’s perfect for the purpose.
We also introduced the new PNG 3×4 Low Loader. Designed for the rugged Papua New Guinea operating environment and able to perform under a 65t payload, this tailored design can make light work of heavy loads here and abroad. Featuring retractable outriggers, a heavy duty push point and a hi-tensile frame and gooseneck, the PNG Low Loader ticks all the boxes for doing the hard yards in the harshest of environments.
Drake Trailers has always shown innovation, including being nominated for the 2012 Rio Tinto Improvement Award in the ‘Not Invented Here Award for replication in safety’ category. And way back in 2007, we introduced robotic welding to allowing us to compete more competitively and improve our product output significantly. We were also early adopters of utilising computer aided design system process in 1998.
At Drake Trailers, for over 50 years we have been making high quality, robust heavy haulage and low loader trailers with a wide rage of Widenders, Swingwings, Telescopics, Steerables and specialist trailers. We look forward to being a part of your business for now and into the next 50 years.
